Taos stopped. He shifted uneasily. He looked away from the mare and at the human. He started to back up a few steps. Taos looked around to see if there was away out, but there wasn't. Then another Indian came up to the fence to watch.
"Sara, I thought you might want this," Brin said as he held a rope over the top line of the corral.
One look at that rope and Taos spun around away from the humans. He gave a frightened whinny. Taos went away from the humans, as far as he could go. Taos stayed by the fence. None of the humans moved. Taos wonder, what were they waiting for? He started to calm down a bit. He looked over at the mare again. He was a little interested in what the mare was doing.
"It looks like he hasn't forgotten that he is a stallion after all he's gone through," Brin said as he and Little Creek laughed.
That was true. Taos was a little interested in the mare, but he kept his distants. He thought he had seen this mare before, but he could not remember exactly where and when. He was unsure of who the mare was. Taos looked around. The saddle and bridle were still sitting in the corral. As soon as he saw them, he looked away. He looked at the world outside of the corral fence. As he looked, there were a few young indian kids running around, playing with sticks. Some were waving the sticks around for fun. As soon as Taos saw them start waving the sticks, his eyes widened and he gave a freaked whinny and took off running. He kept watch the kids. He did not want those sticks near him. He wasn't watching where we was going and he bumped into the mare that had been in the corral with him. Taos turned his head right away. His eyes still wide with fear.
