Through the soft verdant grass appeared a rather odd sight on the plains. A horse walked through slowly, his head bobbing with each step. The fact that he was a horse was not what made him an oddity. Unlike the many mustangs and other horses around here, he was big. Around 16 hands. He was much heavier set than most other horses, and his neck, head, and limbs much thicker. A snow-white mane and tail flowed behind him, longer than any other's. His mane reached almost to his elbows and his tail dragged on the ground. His coat was a cold steel gray, with a large white section in the middle.
His name was Nimbus. He looked so different because he was once a prized pet, a carthorse. He liked being pampered at home, but while hitched to the cart, so many humans tried to abuse him. He could take it no longer, snapped the shafts and took off into the wild.
Now he regreted it though. He was lonely. He had no contact since leaving. But his spirit was lifted at a familiar scent: horses! He rushed gleefully toward the source, which led him to a sharp hill, looking down on a lush valley, filled with many horses. His blue eyes lit up and he whinnied to them, extatic that he finally had a chance of joining a wild herd.

Spirit heard this new whinny of a stallion. He's nostrils flared and he snorted. He put his ears back for a second and then they went forward. He decide to see what this stallion wanted. He cam thundering through his herd and up to the stallion. "Can I help you," he said in a stern voice. He didn't sound mean, but you could tell that he was unsure of what this stallion wanted. Spirit wasn't going to chase the other stallion off until he heard why the stallion was here and what he wanted.

(holy sheets i forgot about this one lol) "I hope so! My name's Nimbus. You have noooo idea how excited I am to see you, or any horse for that matter!" he said happily. He had a wide grin planted on his face and half-reared once or twice. His voice did not quite fit his deep chest, and his attitude was slightly annoying. Maybe it was just because he was so happy and had so much bottled up energy?

"Oh, well then. Welcome," Spirit said. He was still a little unsure about this stallion. He would keep an eye on him, but Spirit wasn't going to jump to conclusions about this stallion. Every horse deserved a chance.

"Thank you. I know this is a bit much to ask after knowing you for what, thirty seconds, but still, I have to ask. Would you mind accepting me to your herd? I haven't been around horses for almost four months now. I think it might be getting to me!" he explained with a laugh.

"I'm willing to give you a chance," Spirit said. "Have you ever lived in a herd before?"

Nimbus thought for a few seconds. Did a few horses on a ranch count as a herd? He didnt think so, but he had treated them like herdmates...it was worth a shot. "Well, not a wild herd, no."

"Just remember that the mares are of my herd," Spirit said. He did not sound mean, he just didn't want to lose many of his mares. "We do not have many stallions in this herd. There are a few here and there."

Nimbus bowed his head slightly. "Of course. If I do something wrong or go somewhere I shouldn't, just let me know." He flashed another quick smile.

"Alright then," Spirit said. "Well, I must get back to keeping on guard." He smiled at Nimbus.

"Of course. Don't let me keep you." Nimbus returned the smile and watched Spirit leave. He looked around at his new home and smiled. Home. Finally.

Spirit walked off. He headed for a hill that over looked the herd. When Spirit left a 5 year old dark bay mare came toward Nimbus. Her name was Alex.

Nimbus' eyes followed the stallion until he was out of sight. He turned to find a mare standing right before him and jumped in shock. "Oh. Uhm.....hi?"
